Feathers & Hope, 2021
Photographs & video based on a performance, feathers, photos printed on acrylic
16” x 16” each
Feathers & Hope is a photographic performance exploring the shifting landscape between visibility and invisibility. In two parallel acts, I covered my body—once in white feathers, once in black—photographing the process over three hours as each feather was carefully adhered to my skin.
As the layers accumulated, my form gradually disappeared. Sight was lost; movement became restricted. The experience was both claustrophobic and transformative—unfolding like a fairy tale where a woman becomes a bird, or a monster.
Through this metamorphosis, the work questions how bodies are perceived, mythologized, and erased. Feathers & Hope is an attempt to transcend the physical form and confront the politics of being seen, unseen, and misunderstood.
